Sydney’s Admiralty House Hosts Ceremonial Welcome for PM Modi before Meeting with Albanese

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a guard of honour at Admiralty House in Sydney before holding talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the relationship between India and Australia. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was also present at the meeting.

During his visit to Australia, PM Modi presided over a diaspora conference, met with Australian business leaders, celebrities, academics, and public speakers. He thanked the Indian community for contributing to the growth story of Australia and listed out different aspects of India-Australia relations.

PM Modi announced that India will soon open another consulate in Brisbane and steps are being taken to ensure that universities in both countries recognize each other’s degrees. He also said that Indians can come to Australia for skill training and professionals can move freely between both countries.

This is PM Modi’s first visit to Australia in almost a decade. He last visited in 2014.
