A major operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force in Hyderabad led to the arrest of six frequent offenders and one minor involved in stealing motorcycles and mobile phones across various city areas.
This effort uncovered six theft cases in Hyderabad, Rachakonda, and Cyberabad. Police seized a stolen TVS NTORQ scooter, ten mobile phones, and a passenger auto used in the crimes, with the total value of recovered items around Rs 7 lakh.
The arrested individuals are known offenders: Mohammed Sajid (nicknamed Umlikatta Sajid), Shaik Abdul Waseem, Aslam Bin Barawas, Mohd Shahzad, Mohd Muqeed (also called Muqeet), Sohail Mohiuddin, and one minor. They worked as auto drivers, plumbers, salespeople, and students, committing thefts to fund their lavish lifestyles.
A gang formed by A-1 to A-4 targeted passengers in autos by distracting them and stealing their phones in Rachakonda and Cyberabad. Meanwhile, A-5, A-6, and the juvenile stole two-wheelers in Chikkadpally and Saroor Nagar areas.
The team linked six property cases in LB Nagar, Hayath Nagar, Patancheru, Ramachandrapuram, Chikkadpally, and Saroor Nagar police stations. They also executed one conviction warrant and four Non-Bailable Warrants for past offenses, including theft, robbery, and attempted murder.
Led by Inspector S Saidababu, the South-East Zone Task Force made these arrests using technical analysis and local intelligence. The suspects were handed over to local police stations as they pursue judicial remand. Authorities under Addl Deputy Commissioner of Police Ande Srinivasa Rao continue to focus on reducing property crimes and advise the public to stay cautious, especially when using public transport.
