Khammam/Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has accused the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) of misusing over Rs 200 crore in district cricket. They have asked police in Khammam and nearby areas to file charges against those involved in this scandal to protect young cricketers and their families from corruption.

At a press conference in Khammam, TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy criticized the HCA’s operations. He claimed the club’s system and fund management were fraudulent, violating CAG guidelines and being disapproved by their auditors. Despite this, the HCA General Body approved the financial accounts for 2022-23 and 2023-24 illegally. Reddy also highlighted the HCA’s inaction against previous officials and vendors involved in financial misconduct, who were already charged by the Telangana Police in October 2023.

Reddy noted that the HCA ignored reforms suggested by the Justice L Nageswara Rao Committee (SMC), allowing members with criminal backgrounds to stay in power. He showed identical audit reports for 2022-23 and 2023-24, revealing major accounting errors and misuse of public funds worth hundreds of crores. He mentioned clubs that never fielded teams and institutions not meeting BCCI membership norms were falsely listed as voters. Many district clubs falsely claimed infrastructure development for over a decade.

Reddy explained that over Rs 200 crore was misappropriated by the HCA, with about Rs 12 crore misused specifically for district cricket. He stressed that even after 90 years, Telangana lacks visible cricket infrastructure or development. He urged Khammam representatives to act against corrupt HCA officials. TCA members like Pradeep Kurapati, Veeresh Goud, T Jaypal, and other senior and women cricketers, including Radhika, Anjali, and Padma, attended the event.
