Hyderabad: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Telangana has issued an important clarification regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, stating that voters who have already submitted their SIR Enumeration Form online are not required to submit a separate physical (offline) form.

The clarification comes after reports that some Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were allegedly asking voters to submit physical forms even after successfully completing the online application, leading to confusion among electors across the state.

Official Memo Issued to All District Election Officers

In an official memo dated July 7, 2026, the Chief Electoral Officer directed all District Election Officers (DEOs), including the Commissioner of GHMC, to ensure that BLOs do not insist on physical submission if an elector has already completed the online process.

The memo states that online enumeration forms submitted through the official Election Commission portal must be accepted, verified and processed for inclusion in the draft electoral roll in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

Online Submission Alone Is Valid

The Election Department has clarified that once an applicant successfully submits the SIR Enumeration Form through the official online portal, there is no requirement to submit another offline copy. The online application carries the same validity and will undergo verification by the concerned Booth Level Officer before being processed.

Officials have advised voters to retain the acknowledgement or reference number generated after online submission for future reference.

Clarification Issued After Public Confusion

According to the Election Department, it came to their notice that some voters were being informed that failure to submit a physical form after filing online could result in their names not being considered for the draft electoral roll. The department stated that such instructions created unnecessary concern among voters.

To remove this confusion, the CEO’s office has instructed all election officials across Telangana to follow uniform procedures and ensure that online applications are processed without insisting on duplicate offline submissions.

Verification by BLO Will Continue

Although a physical form is not required after online submission, the verification process remains unchanged. Booth Level Officers will continue to verify the information and supporting documents submitted by applicants before final inclusion in the electoral roll.

If additional clarification or supporting documents are required during verification, the concerned BLO may contact the applicant directly.

Advice for Telangana Voters

Voters who have already completed their SIR Enumeration Form online do not need to visit their BLO merely to submit another paper application. However, applicants should ensure that the information entered online is accurate and remain available if the BLO contacts them for field verification or document confirmation.

The Election Department has urged voters to rely only on official announcements and communications issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, and avoid misinformation circulating through unofficial sources or social media.
