Hyderabad: As the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls progresses across the country, including Telangana, voters using the Election Commission of India (ECI) online portal are being advised to carefully verify their personal details before submitting the application. The portal follows a strict data-matching process, and even minor differences between a voter’s records may prevent the online application from being completed.
Reports emerging from the ongoing SIR exercise indicate that the portal cross-verifies information available in the electoral roll, EPIC (Voter ID) and other identity records. If the details do not match exactly, the system may stop the application during the verification stage.
Minor Mismatches Can Lead to Verification Issues
According to reports, several applicants have experienced difficulties completing their online SIR application because of small discrepancies in their records. Some of the common issues include:
Differences in the spelling of names, missing middle names or initials, surname changes after marriage, and mismatches between the details available in Aadhaar and the Voter ID (EPIC). In certain cases, even a single missing initial or a slight variation in the English spelling of a name has resulted in the application being halted.
The online portal expects identity details to match accurately before allowing applicants to proceed further.
Married Women May Face Additional Verification
Women who changed their surname after marriage are among those who may face additional verification if their Aadhaar, Voter ID and electoral records contain different surnames. Similarly, applicants whose names include initials should ensure that the information entered matches their official records exactly.
Verify Your Details Before Starting the Online Form
Before filling the SIR Enumeration Form online, applicants should verify that their name, date of birth, father’s or mother’s name and other personal information are consistent across all official documents.
If using previous electoral roll details, ensure that the Assembly Constituency, Part Number and Serial Number are entered correctly. Avoid using abbreviations, alternate spellings or nicknames that do not match your official records.
Offline Submission Is Available If Online Verification Fails
If the online application cannot be completed due to verification issues or technical errors, voters can still submit the SIR Enumeration Form through their local Booth Level Officer (BLO). During the offline process, supporting documents can be verified manually, allowing eligible voters to complete the enrolment process.
Applicants facing repeated online verification failures are advised not to delay their submission and to contact their BLO for assistance.
Advice for Telangana Voters
With lakhs of voters expected to participate in the ongoing SIR exercise, Telangana voters should take a few extra minutes to review their records before submitting the online form. Ensuring that names, initials, surnames and other personal details match across official documents can help avoid unnecessary verification issues and make the online application process smoother.
