Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has activated a new feature on its Citizen Service Portal that allows electors to submit supporting documents online against notices issued by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026. The new option, titled “Submit Document Against Notice Issued”, is now visible on the official ECI portal.
The feature is currently expected to benefit voters who receive notices seeking additional proof or clarification during the SIR process. In Karnataka, where the revision process has progressed further, some applicants have already begun receiving such notices. However, no notices have been issued to Telangana electors so far, as the State is still in the enumeration stage.
When Will Telangana Voters Receive Notices?
The Election Commission has already revised Telangana’s SIR schedule. Under the updated timeline, Booth Level Officer (BLO) house-to-house verification will continue until August 3, 2026, while the draft electoral roll will be published on August 10, 2026. The period for filing claims and objections will run from August 10 to September 9, and the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 12, 2026.
According to the Election Commission, supporting documents are not required during the current enumeration phase. Documents will only be sought if an Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) issues a notice after the publication of the draft electoral roll, usually where an elector’s details could not be linked with previous electoral records or where discrepancies are noticed.
What Is the New Portal Option?
The ECI Citizen Service Portal now displays a dedicated option called “Submit Document Against Notice Issued” under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) section. This facility enables electors who receive an official notice to upload the required supporting documents online instead of visiting election offices in person.
The option is intended only for applicants who have been officially served a notice by the Election Commission. Electors who have not received any notice do not need to upload documents through this section.
Who May Receive a Notice?
Notices may be issued if election officials require additional proof regarding an applicant’s identity, citizenship, age or residence, or when an elector’s details cannot be satisfactorily linked with earlier electoral records during scrutiny.
Once a notice is issued, the elector will be able to respond by uploading the requested documents through the new online facility, making the process faster and more convenient.
No Action Needed for Most Telangana Voters Yet
For now, Telangana voters who have already submitted their SIR Enumeration Form—either online or through their Booth Level Officer—do not need to take any additional action unless they receive an official notice from the Election Commission.
Election officials have clarified that supporting documents should not be uploaded during the enumeration stage unless specifically requested. Electors are advised to regularly check the official ECI portal and follow instructions issued by the Election Commission if they receive any notice after the publication of the draft electoral roll.
