Telangana continues to experience severe cold wave conditions on January 9, 2025, with temperatures plummeting across the state. HCU Serlingampally in the GHMC area recorded the lowest temperature at 8.4°C, while Sangareddy’s Kohir mandal registered the state’s minimum at 6.6°C. Meteorological officials have indicated that the intense cold wave will persist for another 36 hours before residents can expect some respite from the freezing conditions.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, several areas experienced single-digit temperatures during the early morning hours. Moula Ali recorded 8.8°C, followed closely by Rajendranagar at 8.9°C and Qutbullapur at 10.7°C. Other affected localities include Alwal, Sivarampalle, West Maredpally, Macha Bollaram, Jeedimetla, Gachibowli, Kishanbagh, Mehdipatnam, Begumpet, Neredmet, Tirumalgiri, Hayathnagar, and Nagole, all reporting temperatures between 11°C and 12.6°C.
Across Telangana districts, the cold wave has been particularly severe in northern and central regions. KB Asifabad’s Tiryani mandal recorded 7.1°C, while Rangareddy’s Moinabad registered 7.2°C. Kamareddy’s Jukkal mandal experienced 8.1°C, and Vikarabad’s Marpalle saw temperatures drop to 8.2°C. Other significantly affected areas include Adilabad’s Bheempoor at 8.3°C, Sircilla’s Gambhiraopet at 9.1°C, Siddipet’s Markook at 9.2°C, Medak’s Yeldurthy at 9.4°C, Mulugu’s Tadwai at 9.6°C, and Nizamabad’s Saloora at 9.7°C.
Weather authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions against the cold wave conditions, particularly during early morning and late evening hours. The cold wave is expected to ease after 36 hours, bringing relief to citizens across the state who have been enduring the harsh winter conditions.
