Telangana Council Approves SC Classification Report

The Telangana Legislative Council has approved a report submitted by the SC Commission, which suggests dividing Scheduled Caste (SC) communities into three groups. This classification is based on their socio-economic and educational status.

The report categorizes the 59 Scheduled Caste communities in Telangana into the following groups:

Group 1: Includes 15 SC communities that are the most socially, economically, and educationally disadvantaged.
Group 2: Comprises 18 SC communities.
Group 3: Consists of 26 SC communities.

The purpose of this classification is to ensure a fairer distribution of resources and reservations among SC communities, focusing on those who are most in need. By addressing the varying levels of backwardness, the report aims to reduce disparities within these groups.
