The excise department officials carried out surprise raids in five pubs across Hyderabad on Friday night, continuing until midnight. During these inspections, they used drug detection kits to screen 33 people. Unfortunately, four of them tested positive for drug use.
Among the findings, two people tested positive at the Quorum Club in Serilingampally Knowledge City out of seven tests conducted. Similarly, two more positive cases were found at the Babylon pub in Jubilee Hills, where twelve tests were performed.
The operation was a joint effort involving key officials such as Joint Commissioner Qureshi, Ranga Reddy Assistant Commissioner R Kishan, and Anil Kumar Reddy. Officers from the TG Nab Police and Excise Police also participated in the raids.
This raid comes just a week after another major operation. In that instance, Tizinab and Excise officials conducted surprise inspections at 25 pubs in the Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad areas. Authorities are committed to cracking down on drug use in nightlife venues, aiming to create a safer environment for everyone.
