Hyderabad: The deadline for applying for new liquor shop licenses under the 2025–27 excise policy in Telangana has been extended.
The Excise Commissioner announced that applications can now be submitted until October 23.
This decision came after applicants reported issues due to the BC Bandh and bank holidays. Officials responded to the concerns of applicants and business owners by granting more time.
As a consequence, the liquor shop lottery initially set for October 23 is now rescheduled.
The lottery will now occur on October 27, and district collectors will oversee the process.
Applications for the new policy started on September 26. The application fee has increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
Out of the 2,620 available liquor shop slots statewide, 85,363 applications were received by Saturday, with 38,754 arriving in just one day.
