Telangana Government Initiates Search for Funds and Lands for Hyderabad Metro Rail

The Telangana State Government is looking for funds to expand the Metro Rail project in various parts of the city. The State Finance and MA and UD wings are responsible for raising the necessary funds.

State Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao held a meeting to review the Airport Metro and other Metro expansion projects. The minister instructed officials to finalize the DPRs for the metro rail expansion. They also discussed increasing the ridership by introducing more feeder services and improving infrastructure.

The minister directed the departments and organizations to hand over government properties to Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd for construction. The GMR Airport authorities were asked to provide land for the Metro Rail depot. The Chief Secretary was requested to hold coordination meetings to ensure the Airport Metro project progresses smoothly.

The minister also reviewed the progress of seeking funds from the Union Government for the BHEL-Lakdikapul & Nagole-LB Nagar metro rail project. The officials were instructed to pursue the release of funds from the center.

The Metro Rail MD was directed to start surveys for new metro corridors and prepare project reports to be sent to the center. Different funding options for the new projects were also explored. The collectors of Hyderabad, Medchal, and Sangareddy districts were asked to identify government land for multi-level car parking complexes near metro stations.
