Hyderabad: The Telangana government is ready to hold local body elections. They’ve told the Gram Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department to instruct District Executive Officers and District Panchayat Officers to get ready. On Wednesday, the government outlined the number of Mandal Parishad Presidents (MPPs), Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs), Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs), and Gram Panchayats.
Instructions were given on Wednesday. The state has 566 ZPTCs, 566 MPPs, 5,774 MPTCs, and 12,778 Gram Panchayats. The first Panchayat elections in Telangana happened in 2019, with 570 MPPs, 5,817 MPTCs, and 12,848 Gram Panchayats. Nalgonda district has the most MPPs and 353 MPTC seats, while Mulugu district has the fewest, with 83 MPTC seats.
Officials are urged to speed up election preparations. District CEOs must acquire election materials. The election process should finish by September 30, following the High Court’s deadline. Officials have alerted district administrations to prepare necessary materials. The government says current materials should be bought like in the 2019 elections, requiring District Purchase Committees’ approval.
