The Telangana government has allowed registrations for homes built on agricultural land without prior permission to convert the land for non-agricultural use, known as NALA permission. The Revenue Department said eligible applications for NALA approval would be examined and resolved.
Until now, land without the required NALA permission had remained on the prohibited properties list under Section 22-A, preventing registrations. The change is intended to address these pending NALA-related issues.
The Revenue Department issued Memo No. 48062 on Saturday. The memo follows Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent assurance in the Assembly that the government would resolve problems linked to the 22-A list.
Revenue Department Secretary Lokesh Kumar said applications would be considered on merit. Applications involving court cases or other legal disputes are excluded from the process.
The report said the decision would bring relief to thousands of affected residents in urban areas who had been waiting for NALA permissions and property registrations. It also flagged the need to prevent the misuse of Rythu Bharosa.
In the memo, Lokesh Kumar said: “Except for cases involving court cases and legal disputes, eligible applications received for NALA permissions will be examined and resolved.”
