The Telangana government has approved Rs 110 crore for the development of a major road infrastructure project connecting Shankarpally Road near MGIT in Gandipet to Manikonda. The 3.57-km Pipeline Road project is designed to address severe traffic congestion affecting several key areas including Kokapet, Manikonda, Gandipet, Puppalguda, and Narsingi. The proposed project will feature a six-lane carriageway with a 10-metre median to accommodate a heritage channel, along with drain-cum-footpath on both sides, culverts, minor bridges, junction improvements and landscaping works.

The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), will execute the project. Tenders will be floated on the e-procurement platform shortly, and the authority will also construct missing link roads in the area. The project aims to significantly ease traffic congestion, reduce commute time and improve overall mobility in Alkapur Township, Manikonda, Neknampur and surrounding localities. Both the link roads will be 80-feet wide to serve as alternative routes to the main roads.

According to a HGCL official, these arterial roads will provide much-needed alternative routes to commuters in the region. The development of the link roads will be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 3.27 crore. The official stated that the authority plans to complete the development of these link roads within a period of six months. The project is expected to benefit thousands of residents and daily commuters who face traffic bottlenecks in these rapidly developing areas of Hyderabad.

The infrastructure development comes as part of the state government’s efforts to modernize road connectivity in the western corridor of Hyderabad. The project will not only improve traffic flow but also enhance connectivity between residential and commercial hubs in the region. The 80-feet-wide arterial roads are being designed to accommodate future traffic growth and provide seamless connectivity for the expanding urban population in these localities.
