Telangana Police has officially launched the Next-Generation Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TG-ERSS) – Dial 112, an advanced artificial intelligence-enabled integrated platform designed to provide faster and more coordinated emergency assistance across the state. The system was inaugurated by Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Hyderabad, with senior police officers and government officials in attendance. The upgraded emergency response system marks a significant milestone in technology-driven policing for the state.
The DGP described the launch as a landmark achievement, emphasizing that Dial 112 provides citizens with a single emergency number that connects multiple services including Police, Fire Services, Ambulance, Women Safety, Child Protection, Disaster Response and other emergency services. The AI-enabled platform introduces several intelligent features such as duplicate call filtering, AI-based incident prioritization, smart call routing, AI-assisted dispatch, voice-to-text transcription, advanced caller-location identification, real-time dashboards and a unified interface for emergency responders. The system is also integrated with drones and emerging emergency-response technologies to enhance operational capabilities.
The upgraded system has delivered impressive efficiency improvements, reducing average call-handling time from 190 seconds to 133 seconds, representing an improvement of nearly 30 percent. Telangana now records an average emergency response time of 6 minutes in urban areas, 15 minutes in rural areas, and 10 minutes 30 seconds statewide, which is significantly better than the national average of approximately 18 minutes. These improvements demonstrate the effectiveness of the AI-powered system in streamlining emergency response operations across different geographical areas.
Operating round the clock with 164 trained personnel, the TG-ERSS Centre receives nearly 14 lakh calls daily, handles around 18,000 emergency calls, and dispatches nearly 7,500 incidents every day. A network of 1,860 digitally integrated patrol vehicles across all Police Units enables rapid deployment by automatically identifying the nearest available vehicle. The DGP highlighted that the migration of Dial 100 and Dial 112 to the government-owned infrastructure at TGiCCC has strengthened operational control, reduced dependence on external vendors and generated substantial savings for the state.
As part of the next phase of modernization, AI-enabled drones will be introduced on a pilot basis in the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri and Future City Commissionerates to support emergency response, disaster management, traffic incidents and law-and-order operations. The DGP called upon citizens to remember 112 as the single emergency number and urged the media to help create greater public awareness about the service. He emphasized the importance of the system by stating that every call matters, every second counts, and every response strengthens public trust.
The programme was attended by Shikha Goel, IPS, Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department, and Director, TGCSB & FSL; V.V. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, DGP, Technical Services; C.V.
