Telangana’s Agriculture Minister, Thummala Nageswara Rao, has asked Union Minister Anupriya Patel to provide 200,000 tonnes of urea for the state’s upcoming Kharif season. After his talks with union ministers, Rao spoke to the media about the serious problems farmers face due to their dependence on imported fertilisers.
Rao stressed the importance of changing the Seed Act, which was created in 1968. He suggested introducing a new law in the next Parliamentary session to offer better support to farmers.
The minister also highlighted that Telangana is running unique welfare programs for farmers that aren’t available in other states. Additionally, he urged for higher import duties to promote the growth of oil palm within India.
