Telangana Seeks ₹30,000 Crore Grants in Union Budget 2025

Key Funding Requests from Telangana
1. Infrastructure and Transportation
Telangana has asked for funding to support several key projects. These include the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR), the Musi River Revitalization Project, and the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro. A major proposal includes extending metro connectivity from Shamshabad Airport to other parts of the city to ease traffic congestion.

The state has sought ₹14,000 crore in phased assistance for the Musi River revival initiative. Additionally, Telangana has requested funds to divert Godavari water to Greater Hyderabad. This project aims to ensure a clean and reliable water supply for the city’s growing population.

For instance, while the state received ₹13,179 crore in 2022-23, the estimated amount of ₹41,259 crore for 2023-24 fell short, with only ₹9,730 crore disbursed. For the ongoing 2024-25 fiscal year, the state projected ₹21,636 crore in central assistance but has received just ₹4,771 crore in the last nine months.
