Telangana student killed by juniors for asking them to focus on studies 7 detained

A first-year degree student was assaulted and killed in the Nizambad district of Telangana by seven of his juniors after he asked them to “focus on studies and not waste time chatting on the phone”

The victim and the accused were residents of a government-run hostel in Bodha Town.

Venkat’s family recalls, that the victim was the “study hour in charge” and advised his junior to study, instead of wasting time.

Offended by this, the accused, who is a minor, informed his elder brother, also staying at the same hostel about Venkat, following which an altercation began between the two parties on late Sunday evening.

The victim was reportedly locked, beaten up, and strangled, in a room inside the hostel.

Several other students alerted by the noises reported the incident to the authorities.

Venkat was rushed to the hospital soon after but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have detained the seven accused and a criminal complaint has been registered against them.
