A tense situation developed at Mehdipatnam on Saturday night following a stone pelting incident between two religious groups. The clash occurred when a lorry carrying plywood was stopped by Gaurakshak who suspected the vehicle was transporting cattle. The confrontation quickly escalated, resulting in damage to the vehicle and prompting immediate police intervention to prevent further violence in the area.
According to reports, the windows of the vehicle were broken during the altercation as tensions flared between the groups. The driver and occupants of the lorry faced hostility from those who had stopped the vehicle based on suspicions about its cargo. The incident created panic among residents and commuters in the busy Mehdipatnam locality, which is known for its commercial activity and dense population.
MLA Majid Hussain rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident. DCP also reached the spot and investigating the matter.
Police forces took control of the situation and deployed additional personnel to prevent any further incidents. Authorities have begun an investigation into the matter to identify those involved in the stone pelting and determine the exact sequence of events.
