Telangana Higher Education Chairman Stresses Need for Skilled Workforce
Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGHE) Chairman, Prof. Balakista Reddy, emphasized the importance of skilled professionals in today’s world. Speaking at a meeting with private undergraduate college representatives on Tuesday, he highlighted how India, with the second-largest youth population, is gaining global attention. He also noted that many Indians hold key positions worldwide and contribute significantly to the digital revolution.
Prof. Reddy discussed how digitalization has transformed teaching methods, making education more accessible and technology-driven. He pointed out that modern education now includes multidisciplinary curricula, helping students gain diverse knowledge and skills. The shift towards digital learning is preparing students for the evolving global job market.
He also addressed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education, stating that it had accelerated the adoption of hybrid learning models. This shift has encouraged institutions to rethink traditional teaching methods and incorporate digital innovations. He stressed that these changes would enhance education quality, inclusivity, and excellence.
To improve student readiness for the job market, Prof. Reddy announced that the syllabus would be revised to be more practical-oriented. Students will receive materials in digital formats, and the curriculum will be tailored to meet the specific needs of various industries. He assured that the updated syllabus would help graduates secure better job opportunities.
Regarding issues such as fee reimbursement, the semester system, and student detentions, Prof. Reddy acknowledged the challenges faced by students. He assured that while immediate changes may not be possible, the education system would be improved gradually. He promised a dynamic and responsive higher education system that supports students and contributes to the state’s progress.
Earlier, he expressed gratitude to the Private Degree Colleges Association for their participation in a brainstorming session. The meeting focused on revamping undergraduate admissions and updating the syllabus. Representatives from various colleges raised concerns about syllabus modifications, online admissions, fee reimbursement, and the semester system. These discussions are expected to lead to meaningful reforms in higher education.
