The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has achieved a significant milestone by helping victims of cyber fraud recover a total of Rs 85.05 crore from March to July. This accomplishment was celebrated on Friday during the launch of an event called ‘The Great AppSec Hackathon 2024’. During the event, Director-General of Police, Dr. Jitender, gave refunds to seven victims and praised the teamwork of TGCSB and the Lok Adalats.

In partnership with the Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), TGCSB has organized The Great AppSec Hackathon 2024. This event has attracted more than 10,000 participants from over 20 countries and all states in India. The hackathon highlights the critical need for cybersecurity in today’s digital age.

The opening ceremony was attended by many notable figures, including Dr. Jitender, Shikha Goel from TGCSB, Bhavesh Mishra, a Deputy Secretary from the Government of India, and several other key representatives from national and international organizations. They emphasized the importance of cybersecurity education and the role of innovation in tackling security challenges.

Participants in the hackathon will undergo a multiple-choice question (MCQ) screening round to evaluate their knowledge of application security. The top scorers will advance to the Capture The Flag (CTF) round, where they will engage with a simulated e-governance application to identify and exploit vulnerabilities. This task mirrors real-life cybersecurity issues.
