Telangana Announces Free Sewing Machines for Minority Women

The Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation (TGMFC) has launched a program to distribute free domestic sewing machines to minority women under the ‘Indiramma Mahila Shakthi’ scheme. This initiative aims to support unemployed and eligible women from minority communities by helping them become self-reliant.

Minority women interested in applying for the scheme can submit their applications through the official web portal, tgobmms.cgg.gov.in, from December 16 to December 31. Along with the online application, a set of hard copies and necessary documents must be submitted to the district minority welfare officer in their respective districts.

The scheme prioritizes women from minority communities such as Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis. Special preference will be given to the poorest women, including those who are destitute, divorced, widowed, orphaned, or single.

To apply, candidates must provide essential documents such as a white ration card, food security card, or an income certificate if neither card is available. The annual income of the applicant’s family should not exceed ₹1.5 lakh in rural areas or ₹2 lakh in urban areas.

Candidates must have undergone training in tailoring through a government-recognized institute or a TGMFC training partner. Preference will be given to applicants trained by TGMFC. While submitting a training certificate is optional, the minimum educational qualification required is completion of Class 5. Additionally, applicants must provide a self-declaration stating they have not received any assistance from TGMFC in the past five years.

This scheme is an effort to empower minority women by providing them with tools and skills to become financially independent.
