India secured a 1-0 victory over Myanmar in the opening match of the Tri-Nation International Football Tournament held in Imphal. Anirudh Thapa scored the only goal of the game in added time of the first half. Despite dominating possession, India missed several chances to extend their lead. Indian wingers Bipin Singh and Lallianzuala Chhangte created numerous opportunities, while Sunil Chhetri had two chances from set-pieces. Myanmar also had their chances, but India’s goalkeeper Amrinder Singh made a crucial save to keep the scores level. India head coach Igor Stimac made several substitutions in the second half to give local players a chance to shine. However, Chhetri’s goal was ruled offside, and Suresh Wangjam’s shot was saved by the Myanmar goalkeeper seconds before the final whistle.
