A shocking incident took place in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, where a thief snatched a gold chain from a 50-year-old woman inside her house and escaped on Wednesday.
The incident was caught on CCTV and later surfaced on social media. The footage shows the man following the woman into her house at KPHB after she finished drawing rangoli outside. He pretended to ask for water at around 6:08 am.
The woman, identified as Lakshmi, was busy cleaning and drawing rangoli in front of her house when an unknown man wearing a mask approached her. He requested a glass of water, and as she went inside to get it, he quietly followed her. Once inside, he quickly snatched her gold chain, which weighed 2.5 tolas.
Before Lakshmi could react and raise an alarm, the thief ran away into the narrow lanes.
The KPHB police have started an investigation. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and catch the suspect.
