Third Try to Sell Jogulamba Temple Land Fails Due to Few Bidders

Gadwal: For the third time in a row, officials have cancelled the auction to lease out lands owned by the Sri Jogulamba Bala Brahmeswara Swamy Temple. The reason—too few people showed interest.

The first auction attempt happened on April 21, 2025. It included land under six different survey numbers. But the bids were too low, so officials postponed the process.

On May 2, 2025, they tried again. This time, only two bidders paid the required Earnest Money Deposit (EMD). According to auction rules, at least three bidders are needed to proceed. With not enough participants, the auction was cancelled again.

A third attempt took place on May 16, 2025. For Survey No. 253, only two people submitted the EMD. For Survey Nos. 346/1 and 346/3, just one bidder came forward. Again, the minimum participation rule wasn’t met, and the auction was called off.

Authorities will now send a formal report on the failed auction to the Regional Joint Commissioner of the Endowments Department in Hyderabad. They will wait for further instructions before deciding the next steps.

The repeated failure to attract bidders has raised concerns. Officials believe factors like high expectations for land value or strict participation rules may be driving people away.

The Endowments Department may now consider adjusting the auction process. Changes could include revising terms or offering better incentives to draw more interest in future auctions.
