Hyderabad: Police in Hyderabad arrested three men for illegally selling steroid injections, tablets, and capsules without a valid prescription. These steroids were mainly being sold to bodybuilders. Officers from the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, along with the Humayun Nagar police, carried out the operation.
The police seized 22 different types of steroids worth ₹1.8 lakh. The arrested individuals include Mohd Nazeer (47), who was the main supplier, and two sub-suppliers, R Sanjeev (28) and Imran Khan (40).
Nazeer and Sanjeev run a supplement store in Hyderabad. Imran, who was once a gym trainer, got involved in selling steroids illegally after facing financial problems. He targeted young people who wanted to build muscles quickly and sold them steroids at high prices without any medical supervision or license.
According to Additional DCP Task Force, Ande Srinivasa Rao, Imran was first caught near Soma Tailor on NMDC Road in Mehdipatnam with steroid vials. His arrest led to the discovery of Sanjeev’s store, where more steroids were found. Eventually, the police arrested Nazeer, who was also in possession of a large number of steroid products.
The authorities are continuing their investigation to find out more about the illegal supply chain.
