Dr Julian Schuster, President of Webster University, visited India on May 22 to meet with partners and study abroad agencies. Webster University is a popular choice for Telangana and Indian students seeking a US education, particularly in STEM and business programs that can be completed in 16 to 18 months. Dr Schuster spoke about the need for US universities to be more accessible to highly talented Indian students and how Webster University is working on programs to address the needs of future industry needs.
During the visit, Dr Schuster explored key student recruitment and support partners as a first step to explore a future Webster University campus in India. Webster University is a prominent player in global student mobility, with nearly a dozen overseas locations in Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as several US campuses.
Dr Schuster was accompanied by Samrat Ray Chaudhuri, Assistant Vice President of International Student Enrollment. They hosted a high-level meeting with Hyderabad’s prominent overseas agencies and learned more about the needs of students from Hyderabad. Agents mentioned the recent opening of visa slots, which has given hope to aspiring US-bound learners to join universities such as Webster in the fall semester.
Dr Schuster’s visit highlights the growing importance of India for US universities as Indian student numbers have grown significantly in the USA. Top US university administrators are coming to India to discuss options to expand exchange and collaborations.
