Hyderabad: Telangana’s top police official, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Jitender, has called for better use of technology to improve crime detection and tracking across the state. He stressed the importance of using advanced tools provided under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).
Dr. Jitender said that the new features introduced under the CCTNS should be used effectively to monitor and catch criminals involved in various types of crimes. He made these remarks during a video conference held on Tuesday with all District Superintendents of Police and Police Commissioners.
During the meeting, the DGP urged senior police officers to actively use the CCTNS system. He said that when higher-ranking officers lead by example, it encourages field-level staff to follow their lead. He also highlighted the importance of digital features like E-Summons and E-Sakshya, which help make policing more efficient.
Dr. Jitender noted that Telangana Police is well-known across India for distributing computers and other equipment under the ICJS scheme, which supports the CCTNS system. This technology helps officers collect and use data more effectively.
The DGP also mentioned that the CCTNS platform is now being used to evaluate and choose the best-performing police stations. He instructed all Superintendents and Commissioners to make sure the system is being used properly and that its implementation is closely monitored.
He added that lower-level police staff should also aim to set high standards in using the CCTNS, which will help improve policing across the state.
Senior police officers, including Additional Director General of Police (Technical Services) VV Srinivasa Rao and Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mahesh M Bhagwat, along with other officials, were also present at the video conference.
