Mahabubnagar: The Koilsagar reservoir in Mahabubnagar district is nearly full, creating a stunning view that draws many visitors. On Saturday, 1,400 cusecs of floodwater flowed in, prompting irrigation officials to open two gates. They released the water into the Ookachettu stream, resulting in a beautiful waterfall effect.
The reservoir’s water level reached 31 feet, just shy of its full 32-foot capacity. It currently holds 2.09 TMCs of water out of a total 2.270 TMCs. This scene of rushing water amidst lush greenery has made Koilsagar a popular spot for tourists.
Visitors are not just locals but also people from nearby districts in Telangana, as well as from Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. Families, young people, and travelers enjoy the cool breeze and scenic views, spending hours near the overflowing reservoir.
The increase in tourists highlights a need for basic facilities. Visitors and local authorities suggest adding amenities like drinking water, toilets, benches, and resting areas to enhance the experience.
