Hyderabad: Due to ongoing redevelopment work at Secunderabad railway station, many express trains have been rerouted or stopped. One of these is the Narsapur–Nagarsole Express. The East Coast Express is also expected to be rerouted in the coming months. These changes have caused problems for passengers, who are now asking South Central Railway (SCR) to provide temporary solutions.

Recently, SCR announced that around 20 pairs of trains will be diverted to avoid Secunderabad station. This is being done to ensure that the redevelopment work can continue safely and smoothly. However, passengers are worried. They say that changing the terminal of the East Coast Express from Hyderabad to Charlapalli will be a big inconvenience. People living in and around Secunderabad will have to travel longer distances to catch their trains.

Passengers are suggesting that temporary halt stations be created near Secunderabad, especially at Dayanand Nagar, once construction there is finished. They also recommend running more MMTS trains from Charlapalli to different parts of the twin cities to help commuters.

Noor, a member of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), said that while rerouting trains is understandable, providing nearby halt stations is important. He added that instead of focusing on decorative work, the railway should prioritize essential upgrades like longer platforms for 24-coach trains and better lighting to reduce congestion. He also suggested setting up a temporary station until the Dayanandnagar East station is ready.

Meanwhile, SCR has announced that train number 18045 / 18046 (Shalimar – Hyderabad – Shalimar East Coast Express) will officially shift its terminal from Hyderabad to Charlapalli starting June 17.
