    The National Institute of Technology in Warangal has won a project called ‘Advanced Transport Modelling and Simulation for National Highways in India’. They will be working with the Indian Academy of Highway Engineers, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the University of New South Wales to study transportation modeling and simulation, and use the results for data collection. The University of New South Wales and the IAHE have already signed an agreement to set up a ‘Centre for Advanced Transportation Technology and Systems’ for capacity building, technology transfer, and creation of an enabling environment for establishment of CATTS. NITW will be working with IAHE as the second premier institute in CATTS, with IIT Roorkee being the first premier institute.

    The project is worth around Rs 2.3 crore and will ensure that the parameters investigated in the model developed by UNSW are as per Indian conditions and as per the scope of CA with UNSW. They will also explore the transferability of the countrywide CGE model to the regional level. NITW will collaborate with UNSW on education, training, and workshops, etc. The project will take three years to complete and the study team includes Prof. CSRK Prasad, Dr. KB Raghuram, Dr. KVR Ravi Shankar & Dr. Arpan Meha.

    In addition to this project, NITW also won an Industry Sponsored Consultancy Project on ‘Benefit Monitoring Evaluation of Flyovers, Grade Separators, New Link Roads and CRMP in GHMC – as the consultancy service from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
