Hyderabad is seeing heavy rains filling its twin reservoirs, Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar. Due to this, officials are releasing water into the Musi River. At Osman Sagar, the water level has reached 1,788.60 feet, close to its full capacity of 1,790 feet. With an inflow of 1,200 cusecs, two gates have been opened, each by one foot, releasing 220 cusecs.
Himayat Sagar has a water level of 1,763.00 feet, nearing its maximum of 1,763.50 feet. It received an inflow of 1,600 cusecs, prompting one gate to be opened to three feet, releasing 1,017 cusecs of water.
Officials are advising residents in low-lying areas along the Musi River to stay cautious, as more water might be released if the rains persist. The current water levels in the reservoirs are beneficial for Hyderabad’s water supply, but careful management of downstream flow is necessary.
