Two women have been arrested in Mahankali for scamming elderly men by pretending to arrange marriages, according to a report by Telangana Today.
The accused are K. Saraswati, aged 65, from Krishna district, and K. Swathi, aged 40, from Kothagudem in Khammam district.
Police revealed that the women approached older men, claiming they were relatives looking to arrange a marriage. Once the men showed interest, the women asked for money, usually citing fake medical or family emergencies.
After receiving the money, the women disappeared without any further contact.
One victim from Khammam was tricked into giving ₹1.8 lakh. He later reported the incident to the police, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
Authorities believe there may be more victims. They are urging anyone else who was cheated in a similar way to come forward and file a complaint.
