Dubai has long been a top travel destination for Indian tourists. Whether it’s the allure of the city, the quiet desert land, or the opportunity to visit family and friends, countless people fly from India to the UAE every day. Before booking your vacation, please note the following visa details.
There are three main types of visas for visitors: Tourist, Visit, and Transit. Here’s what each one means.
Tourist Visa
A tourist visa is designed for individuals visiting the country for leisure or sightseeing. Available options include 14-day, 30-day, or 60-day single-entry visas, as well as a 5-year multiple-entry visa for frequent travellers. You can choose the visa that suits your travel plans. This visa does not require a sponsor but restricts holders to tourism activities only. Participation in work and business activities is not permitted.
Visit Visa
A Visit Visa typically requires a UAE-based sponsor, which can be either a company or a family member. It permits multiple entries and offers longer validity periods of 30, 60, or 90 days. Holders may be able to extend their stay or convert the visa if they secure employment.
Transit Visa
A UAE transit visa is a short-term visa issued to travellers who are passing through the UAE en route to another country and wish to stay in the UAE temporarily during their layover. It is given only if there is a confirmed onward booking to a third country, and these visas cannot be extended. A sponsor is not needed for a transit visa, it is usually arranged by the airline you are flying with.
To avoid any issues at the airport, it is important to be aware of certain entry requirements. Before boarding your flight, please ensure the following requirements are met:
- All Indian citizens are required to present a valid passport for at least six months from the day of entry in the UAE.
- It is important to ensure a confirmed return ticket is in place.
- Required documents include proof of accommodation, such as hotel reservations or an invitation from a UAE resident.
- Some visa types require showing proof of sufficient funds, generally a minimum of AED 5,000, as it may be checked at immigration.
When planning the next trip, travellers should make sure all the above mentioned requirements are taken care of. Taking these steps can help make the journey smoother and lead to a hassle-free travel experience.
