Serious allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation of a minor have emerged against Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The survivor’s mother has filed a detailed complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, accusing the minister’s son of grooming, emotional manipulation, and repeated sexual abuse of her minor daughter since June 2025. The complaint also directly implicates the Union Minister himself for allegedly pressuring the family to compromise and withdraw legal action.
The Pet Basheerabad police on the outskirts of Hyderabad registered an FIR on 8 May against Bageerath under Sections 74/75 of BNS and Section 11 read with 12 of the POCSO Act. Inspector K Vijayavardhan submitted a detailed report to the IX Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate, Cyberabad, at Medchal, outlining a sustained pattern of grooming, emotional manipulation and sexual exploitation spanning nearly a year.
According to the four-page complaint submitted by the survivor’s mother, Bageerath approached her daughter through mutual contacts in June 2025 and gradually built trust by making false promises of marriage upon her attaining majority. The complaint details how he exercised continuous psychological control over the minor, restricting her educational decisions, isolating her from independent choices, and subjecting her to repeated emotional blackmail. The mother stated that communications between the accused and her daughter clearly show remorse and acknowledgement of harm caused, with persistent demands for physical involvement.
The complaint describes multiple specific incidents of alleged assault at various locations including farmhouses and apartments in Hyderabad. On 5 December 2025, the accused allegedly took the minor to Golf View apartments at Nanakramguda along with two friends and forced her to stay for two to three days despite her resistance. Similar incidents reportedly occurred at Lux Charan farm stay at Moinabad on 13 November 2025. The most serious incident detailed in the complaint occurred on New Year’s Eve between 31 December 2025 and 1 January 2026 at Ananya farms in Moinabad, where the minor was allegedly pressured to consume alcohol and subjected to forcible physical acts.
The survivor’s mother stated that on 7 January 2026, the accused abruptly terminated the relationship and refused to take responsibility for his actions. However, on 13 January, he contacted the mother through messages expressing concern about the daughter’s condition. As a direct consequence of the sustained abuse and abandonment, the minor attempted self-harm on 19 and 25 January 2026. The family also received information that Bageerath had been circulating private information and photos of the minor, further aggravating her distress.
The most explosive allegation in the complaint directly involves Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar himself. The mother stated that when they initiated steps to seek legal remedy, they began receiving calls and indirect pressure to withdraw the matter. On 21 April 2026, a complaint was lodged at Nirmal police station by a friend of Bageerath, alleging that the minor was attempting to blackmail the accused. On 22 April, one Sangappa, claiming to be associated with influential persons, facilitated a meeting with the Union Minister which took place on 23 April 2026.
During this meeting, the mother alleged that under the guise of counselling, they were subjected to indirect pressure to compromise and advised to sign documents at Nirmal police station. The statements made during this meeting caused fear, intimidation and apprehension in their minds, considering the minor status of the daughter. The complaint emphasizes that the entire sequence of events clearly falls under POCSO offences, where consent of a minor is immaterial in law. A senior High Court judge stated that in normal course, the accused has to be arrested soon after such a complaint is lodged, and that a DSP-level officer must investigate the case.
