Garrett Madison, a US mountain guide, climbed Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse peaks in one season, which is known as the Mount Everest region “triple crown.” Madison climbed Lhotse on Thursday, a day after his 13th ascent of Everest. He also climbed Nuptse on May 8. Madison is the owner of Madison Mountaineering, which is based in Seattle. Only a few other mountaineers have achieved this feat. Madison was accompanied by three sherpa climbers on all three peaks.

The death toll on Mount Everest this season has reached 12. Canadian national Petrus Albertyn Swart died on Thursday after falling sick in the “death zone” while going to the summit. At least three other climbers are missing or out of contact.
