Irrigation Minister Capt. N Uttam Kumar Reddy refuted allegations by former CM K Chandrashekhar Rao that blamed the Congress Government for drought conditions in parts of Telangana. He called KCR’s statements at a press meet in Suryapet false and said they were driven by frustration.
Uttam Kumar Reddy denied claims of power shortages or cuts in Telangana, dismissing KCR’s accusations. He criticized BRS for disintegrating and predicted that the party would fail to win any seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Minister accused KCR of falsely blaming the Congress Government for power supply issues, despite efforts to ensure uninterrupted electricity across Telangana. He highlighted failures of the previous BRS Government in power projects and criticized KCR’s lavish lifestyle while in power.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also criticized KCR for neglecting the irrigation sector and mismanaging projects like Kaleshwaram. He highlighted efforts by the Congress Government to address crop damages due to drought and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The Minister presented statistics showing declining water availability in major reservoirs and criticized KCR for diverting Krishna River water to Andhra Pradesh. He also refuted claims of transferring Telangana projects to the Krishna River Management Board.
Uttam Kumar Reddy dismissed allegations of farmers’ suicides and emphasized ongoing efforts by the government to address drought conditions. He mentioned awaiting a report from the National Dam Safety Authority regarding damages to the Kaleshwaram project.
