Uttam says Jagadish’s remarks about the Speaker show an elitist mindset

Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly criticized Suryapet MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy for his remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. He said the comments were highly inappropriate and an insult to India’s parliamentary democracy.

Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized that the Speaker holds the highest authority in the legislative system. He stated that no member has the right to question the Speaker’s position. He also pointed out that Jagadish Reddy’s remarks showed arrogance and undermined the parliamentary system.

The Minister further highlighted that the Speaker is a senior Dalit leader. He claimed that the comments against him reflected an elitist mindset. He warned that such behavior would not be tolerated and called for strict action against the MLA.

Recalling past incidents, Uttam Kumar Reddy reminded that during the previous government, MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar had lost their membership during the Governor’s address in the Assembly.

Finally, he demanded strict action against Jagadish Reddy. He urged that the matter should be sent to the Assembly Ethics Committee for further review.
