Viral Tweet Confirms Chennai Super Kings Deny Punjab Kings' Request to Bat MS Dhoni at No. 3

During the recent game between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings, the PBKS Twitter handle posted a petition for MS Dhoni to come out to bat at No. 3. However, after Ruturaj Gaikwad got out, Dhoni did not come out to bat, indicating that CSK had quashed the petition.

Over the last three weeks, Dhoni has faced criticism for coming in to bat late, with fans and experts suggesting he should bat up the order. During the toss, Dhoni explained that in day games, it is important to be intelligent and not be exposed to the sun for too long, as IPL is a long tournament.

At the time of filing this report, CSK was at 107 for one in 12 overs. The playing XI for Punjab Kings included Atharva Taide, Shikhar Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar and Arshdeep Singh. Chennai Super Kings’ playing XI included Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana.
