Water to Be Released for Farmers in Nagar Kurnool Until March 2025
A decision has been made to release water from the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation System to support farmers in Nagar Kurnool district. This was announced during the SCIWAM (State Committee on Irrigation Water Allocation and Management) meeting held in Hyderabad.
Irrigation Superintendent Engineer Satyanarayana Reddy shared that the water will be available until the end of March 2025. This move aims to meet the irrigation needs of farmers during the Rabi season, ensuring water supply for 2.80 lakh acres of agricultural land.
However, he emphasized that the release of water will depend on the availability of water in the Srisailam reservoir. This highlights the importance of reservoir levels in sustaining agricultural activities in the region.
