Mulugu SP Gaus Alam has urged motorists to take precautions to prevent accidents caused by fog. He advises drivers to use low-beam headlights instead of high beams when there is heavy snow on the road. This is because high beams reflect light back from the fog, obstructing the driver’s vision. If visibility is less than 100 meters, drivers should also use their car’s fog lamps. It is important to drive at a slower speed in foggy conditions in order to be able to respond quickly to the road conditions. It is also recommended to avoid driving at high speeds when there are no cars ahead due to smog. Drivers should stick to the speed limit and listen carefully for sounds of vehicles approaching from the opposite direction. In cases where the road is not visible, the sounds of tire and horn noises can help estimate the distance. It is advised to turn off music inside the vehicle and focus on listening to road noises. Lastly, it is best to stay in the designated lane while driving through fog.
