Woxsen University held its Annual Convocation 2026 on 18th July, marking a significant milestone as 1,198 students from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs received their degrees. The ceremony was graced by distinguished Chief Guest Dr. Roy F. Baumeister, a globally renowned social psychologist and Professor Emeritus at The University of Queensland. The university honoured Dr. Baumeister with an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his outstanding contributions to psychology and human behaviour, particularly his groundbreaking work on ego depletion and self-control.
Addressing the graduating class, Dr. Baumeister emphasized the importance of balancing technology with human curiosity. He urged students to “use AI but build your curiosity and articulate the wonders of the world,” acknowledging that adaptability would be essential as the pace of change in the world has increased remarkably. He encouraged graduates to think beyond immediate concerns and always maintain a five-year plan, noting that while plans can change, having one helps orient towards a bigger future rather than living day-to-day.
Reflecting on India’s evolving career landscape, Dr. Baumeister observed that career paths are increasingly shaped by individuals rather than organizations, making it crucial for graduates to chart their own course. While acknowledging that job changes are becoming common, he advised students not to change jobs merely to escape problems. “If you move, move towards something better and exciting,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of purposeful career decisions.
The convocation ceremony also witnessed the release of the Woxsen University Annual Report 2026, presented by Dr. V. J. Byra Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Woxsen University. The report highlighted the university’s remarkable achievements in global engagement, research, and innovation, including over 655 research publications of which 70% appeared in Q1 and Q2 journals. The university has established partnerships with more than 190 universities worldwide, demonstrating its commitment to international collaboration.
The report showcased significant academic expansion, with the B. Arch intake growing from 40 to 80 seats. New programs introduced include B.Sc. in Sports Science, M. Tech in AI and ML, and M. Des in Product Design Innovation, reflecting the university’s commitment to offering contemporary, industry-relevant education. These additions underscore Woxsen’s focus on preparing students for emerging career opportunities in diverse fields.
The convocation honoured exceptional academic achievers and students who secured top placement packages. Anthati Shivani topped the MBA Business Analytics batch, while Korimi Meghana won the gold medal in B. Tech. Koukuntla Rishitha Reddy had a remarkable achievement, winning the gold medal for BBA Financial Services and securing the highest-paying job offer at Warner Brothers Discovery. Shreyasi Sar graduated top of B. Com, Kurinji V S won gold in Fashion Design, and M Janani topped Architecture.
Outstanding placement achievements were also recognized during the ceremony. Sarah Hazel Philip, an MBA graduate, received the highest-paying job offer at Silicon Labs, while B.Tech graduate Gaddam Srikesh Reddy landed the top offer at Vivnovation. Pakeeru Sri Varsha, who studied Interior Design, was placed at Yula Construction, and Architecture graduates P Keerthi and K B Shivani both secured positions at APS Property Solutions.
The graduating cohort received degrees from seven schools across the university: School of Business, School of Technology, School of Arts & Design, School of Architecture & Planning, School of Science, School of Law, and School of Liberal Arts & Humanities. Located in Hyderabad, Woxsen University is one of the first private universities in Telangana and is renowned for its 200-acre state-of-the-art campus and infrastructure, including Asia’s largest Sports Infrastructure spread over 60 acres.
