YCP Rajya Sabha member R Krishnaiah praised MLC Kavitha’s fight for the Reservation for Women Bill. He said that Kavitha’s struggle in Parliament has led to other parties considering the Women’s Bill. The Central government is planning to introduce the bill in this parliament session, and Krishnaiah stated that he would support it.

MLC Kavitha recently wrote a letter to 47 political parties in the country, urging them to unite and pass the Women’s Reservation Bill in the upcoming Parliament session. The bill aims to reserve 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women. Despite its importance in achieving gender parity, the bill has been stuck in legislative limbo for a long time. Kavitha emphasized the need for women’s representation in legislative bodies and highlighted the success of the 14 lakh women already involved in public life.

Kavitha stressed the importance of inclusivity in democracy and stated that increased women’s representation would create a more equitable political landscape. She urged all political parties to support the Women’s Reservation Bill. Kavitha had previously gone on a hunger strike in March to demand the bill’s tabling and passing and has been working with political parties and civil society organizations to advocate for the bill.
