KGBVs are residential schools for girls from underprivileged and disadvantaged backgrounds in educationally deprived areas. Admission to KGBVs is based on need and does not require an entrance examination. The good results achieved by KGBVs were attributed to the combined efforts of everyone involved, including the students, staff, and officials from Samagra Shiksha at the district and state levels.
