The Cyberabad traffic police took action against drunk driving over the weekend. They conducted a large-scale operation to test drivers for alcohol consumption within the Cyberabad commissionerate limits. As a result, 212 motorists were found driving under the influence.
The operation targeted various areas, particularly the IT corridor. Police detained drivers of 165 two-wheelers, 34 cars, 10 auto-rickshaws, and three heavy vehicles. Among those caught, 21 drivers had high blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels, ranging from 200 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml. All offenders will be taken to court.
Drunk driving and unauthorized driving are significant reasons for road accidents and deaths in Cyberabad. To tackle this issue, the police are taking strict measures against offenders. Even individuals who allow or join drunk drivers are being charged. If a drunk driver causes a fatal accident, they will be arrested and charged with culpable homicide, which can lead to up to 10 years in prison and a fine.
