Residents across several localities in Hyderabad will experience disruptions in water supply for 24 hours starting Saturday, May 2, as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) carries out essential maintenance work. The water board has announced that cleaning operations of an old balancing tank at the Asifnagar filter bed will commence from 6 am on Saturday and continue until 6 am on Sunday.
During this maintenance window, residents in the affected areas will face either low water pressure or complete interruptions in water supply, according to an official press release issued by the water board. The cleaning work is necessary to ensure the continued efficiency and safety of the water distribution system serving these neighborhoods.
The Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Division-XIII, covering Goshamahal and Karwan Circle, will see disruptions in multiple localities including Red Hills, Nampally, Mallepally, Seetarambagh, Ghode ki Khabar, Hindi Nagar, Assembly, Secretariat New MLA Quarters, Adarshnagar, South Central Railway, Nampally, and Gunfoundry. These areas form a significant portion of the city’s central region and house thousands of residents.
O&M Division-XIV under Golconda Zone will also experience supply issues, affecting areas such as Chintal Basti, Vijayanagar Colony, Old Mallepally, Asifnagar, and Ahmed Nagar. Additionally, O&M Division-XVII covering Kavadiguda Circle will impact residents in Kavadiguda Ward, Gandhinagar Ward, and Domalaguda. The disruption will extend to O&M Division-XV in Jubilee Hills Circle, specifically affecting the Banjara Hills ward within its jurisdiction.
The water board has issued an advisory requesting consumers in all the affected areas to use water judiciously during this period. Residents are encouraged to store adequate water in advance to meet their needs during the 24-hour maintenance window. The board has emphasized the importance of water conservation to minimize inconvenience during the scheduled disruption.
Officials have confirmed that normal water supply will resume once the cleaning work at the balancing tank is completed. Consumers are advised to plan accordingly and make necessary arrangements to cope with the temporary interruption in water services across these multiple divisions of the city.
