A devastating road accident on Palakonda Bypass Road in Mahabubnagar district claimed five lives on the spot. Yakub Afzal, a 25-year-old sports bike rider, crashed into a car while traveling at an estimated speed of 140 to 150 kmph. The collision occurred when the car was making a U-turn on the bypass road, leading to a fatal impact that left no survivors from either vehicle. Police officials have arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The victims include Arya Begum (also identified as Arshia Begum), a 30-year-old woman, along with her two young children, Ujeba, aged 7 years, and Amar, aged 2 years. They were traveling in a Hyundai Verna car at the time of the accident. Yakub Afzal and his unidentified friend, who was riding pillion on the sports bike, also died instantly in the collision. All five individuals were declared dead at the scene, highlighting the severity of the impact.
Preliminary investigations by local police point to overspeeding as the primary cause of the accident. The sports bike was reportedly traveling at an extremely high speed when it collided with the car during the U-turn maneuver. The Palakonda Bypass Road has witnessed several accidents in recent months, raising concerns about road safety and adherence to speed limits. Authorities are examining whether additional factors such as road conditions or visibility played any role in the tragedy.
The Mahabubnagar police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. Officials are working to identify the second victim from the bike and notify the families of all deceased. The bodies have been shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have reiterated warnings about the dangers of overspeeding and reckless driving, particularly on bypass roads where vehicles often travel at high speeds.
