Tollywood is gearing up for a star-studded summer with a line-up of big releases featuring popular actors such as Samantha, Keerthy Suresh, Nani, Naga Chaitanya, Ravi Teja, and others. The competition to capture audiences during the summer season has already begun, with filmmakers releasing their films to take advantage of the holiday season and reach a wider audience. Similar to the festive seasons of Sankranthi and Dasara, the summer season is witnessing a lot of excitement and buzz around new films.
Here is a list of films slated for release this summer:
– Das ki Dhamki: Starring Vishwaksen and Nivetha Pethuraj, the film is set to release on March 22, on the occasion of the Ugadhi festival. Vishwaksen himself has directed and written the screenplay for the film, which also features director Tharun Bhascker in a key role.
– Rangamarthanda: Featuring Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna, and Brahmanandam in significant roles, the film is releasing on March 22, on the occasion of Dasara. Directed by Krishna Vamsi, the movie revolves around the life of an actor played by Prakash Raj.
– Dasara: Starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles, Dasara is all set to hit the big screen on March 30. Hailed as a pan-India movie releasing in five languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil, it is directed by debutant director Srikant Odela.
– Raavanasura: Featuring Ravi Teja, Anu Emmanuel, Faria Abdullah, and Megha Akash in lead roles, the film is expected to release in theatres on April 7. Directed by Sudheer Varma, the trailer has already hit 13 million views.
– Shaakuntalam: Actor Samantha plays the titular Shakuntala in this film, which is set to hit screens on April 14. Directed by Gunashekar, the film is based on Kalidasa’s classic Abhijnana Shakuntalam and also features Mohan Babu, Dev Mohan, Madhu Bala, and others in significant roles.
– Virupaksha: Starring Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha Menon in lead roles, the film will release in theatres on April 21. The film also features Pawan Kalyan in a special appearance and is directed by Karthik Dandu.
– Custody: This Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty starrer is hitting screens on May 12. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the thriller is releasing in Telugu and Tamil and has already garnered 15 million views for its trailer on YouTube.
