In preparation for the 77th Independence Day celebrations, security measures in Delhi, including the Red Fort, have been upgraded. The Special Protection Group (SPG), the National Security Guard (NSG), and the Delhi Police are all involved in ensuring the safety of the event. Ground security is being handled by soldiers, aerial security by army helicopters with commandos, and the DRDO has been deployed to counter any aerial attacks. An entrance drone radar system is also in place to shoot down any drones within a four-kilometer radius.
To enhance security, Israeli software cameras with Automatic Face Recognition System (FRC) have been installed at the Red Fort. There are a total of 550 cameras with face recognition technology throughout the fort. These cameras will monitor every area and track any suspicious individuals. The facial recognition system will alert security services when a suspect’s face is detected.
The Delhi Police have issued an advisory for the public, warning about road closures due to the Independence Day festivities. Heavy vehicles are prohibited from entering certain bridges, and interstate buses are not allowed between specific bus terminals. Additionally, several roads will be closed from Monday night until Tuesday morning for security reasons.
