Ajit Pawar, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), did not attend a meeting of his party’s Mumbai unit, causing speculation about his future plans. Pawar explained that he had other commitments at the same time and asked reporters not to make too much of his absence. The NCP convention was held in Mumbai and included speeches from party chief Sharad Pawar and other senior leaders. Praful Patel emphasized the importance of doing well in the Mumbai and Thane region, which has 60 Assembly seats, if the NCP wants to become the top party in the state.
